Henri-Lloyd anchors at the Auckland Boat Show, brought to you by The Chandlery

Over the years, the Auckland On Water Boat Show has developed a reputation as a hub for the new releases and innovations of the marine industry this year. As the show approaches, we’ll be highlighting the best-in-show products you can expect to see this year, and the latest and greatest from our exhibitors.

February 20, 2025 By

Henri-Lloyd isn’t just another sailing brand. Since 1963, it has been the trusted gear of pioneers, explorers, and everyday adventurers who refuse to settle for less.

After years of being unavailable in New Zealand, Henri-Lloyd made its comeback in October 2024 thanks to a collaboration between The Chandlery, local marine shop in Russell, Bay of Islands, and Henri-Lloyd Australia, exclusive Henri-Lloyd distributors for Australia and New Zealand. Now, The Chandlery is bringing an even bigger selection of the gear to the Auckland Boat Show (March 6-9, Booth 139B) – a mix of tested classics, customer favorites, and fresh new arrivals, including bold new colors and an expanded range.

At the show, visitors can expect:

  • Exclusive show specials only available during the event
  • First access and pre-orders of the newest Henri-Lloyd gear
  • A chance to WIN Henri-Lloyd gear – just for stopping by the booth

Real stories, real gear that lasts

Henri-Lloyd has always been a brand built on real-life experiences, and no story proves this more than Warren’s, CEO of The Chandlery, 15-year-old Henri-Lloyd gear.

For 15 years, Warren’s Henri-Lloyd jacket and hi-fit has been through it all – submerged underwater, battered by Trans-Tasman storms, and still standing strong. “When you’re cold and wet,” he says, “your performance drops. All you can think about is staying warm.”

For Warren, choosing the right gear isn’t just a preference; it’s a necessity.

One unforgettable moment sealed his loyalty to the brand. Midway across the Tasman, battling 50-knot winds, he approached the infamous Wanganella Banks – a notorious stretch of shallow waters and sharp swells. While catching some rest in the cockpit, a crew member thought it would be funny to let a wave break over the stern.

The boat flooded, Warren woke up submerged a foot underwater—and yet, he was still dry. His Henri-Lloyd gear had done its job, keeping him warm and protected. Fifteen years later, that same gear is still in his wardrobe, still in use.

This and similar experiences led Warren to reach out to Henri-Lloyd Australia and bring the brand back to New Zealand. And now, after showcasing and representing the brand in Bay of Islands Sailing Week, the legacy will be brought to the Auckland Boat Show 6th-9th March.

The Auckland Boat Show: What to Expect at Booth 139B

The Chandlery, together with Henri-Lloyd Australia, is bringing a selection of gear to the Auckland Boat Show, including:

  • Favourites from the 2024 range.
  • The all-new range built for serious racers – more details coming soon.
  • The latest lifestyle range—so you can carry Henri-Lloyd style beyond the water.
Henry Lloyd’s Lifestyle range will be on display at this year’s Auckland Boat Show with The Chandlery

And, of course, exclusive Boat Show deals (but we won’t spoil all the surprises—you’ll have to come see for yourself). Oh, and if winning free Henri-Lloyd gear sounds good, all you have to do is stop by the booth and fill out a quick feedback form.

For those wanting inside knowledge straight from the source, Henri-Lloyd’s exclusive distributors from Australia will also be there to answer any questions about the brand, the gear, and the latest innovations.

Visit Booth 139B at the Auckland Boat Show (March 6-9) and experience Henri-Lloyd in person!

Like many in New Zealand’s marine industry, Smuggl Like many in New Zealand’s marine industry, Smuggler Marine is a family-owned business which has evolved and grown alongside the Auckland Boat Show.

Smuggler Marine, as it was rebranded in 2004, started life in 1986 as David Pringle Boatbuilders, mainly building yachts including some of the iconic Ross 930s and Elliot 1050s that are still sailing today.

In 2004 the business moved into powerboats and created its very first Smuggler.

“That’s when we started focusing on the boat show market,” says Pauline Pringle. “Boat shows were the way we made sure everyone knew what a Smuggler was.”

“The Auckland Boat Show is in a great location, high end, people are there to buy boats, and it’s full of opportunity for our business. We love the customers, the variety of people and exhibitors and the end of summer vibe.”
