A festival on the water in 2023

Over the years, the Auckland On Water Boat Show has developed a reputation as a hub for the new releases and innovations of the marine industry this year. As the show approaches, we’ll be highlighting the best-in-show products you can expect to see this year, and the latest and greatest from our exhibitors.

August 16, 2022 By

The Auckland Boat Show will return in 2023, bringing a festival on the water to the heart of central Auckland.

New Zealand’s largest boat show will return to Auckland from 23-26 March, 2023.

The Auckland Boat Show, scheduled for March next year, to run directly after Sail GP’s March regatta, is well-timed to allow boating enthusiasts to enjoy a feast of March marine activities.

A festival on the water

A large marina display will spread through Jellicoe Harbour, filling the space outside the former America’s Cup bases. On-land exhibits will complement the on-water component of the show, taking up a Hamer Street spot in central Auckland’s buzzing Wynyard Quarter.

“Staging the show on these dates – during daylight savings, and in the settled weather this time of year delivers – gives us the chance to promote boating, boats and equipment to their best advantage,” says show organiser, Stacey Cook.

The show has become known for its on-water display. A wide range of boats – from RIBS and tenders, to large yachts and multihulls – make their way to Auckland at show time to fill Auckland Boat Show marinas.

Uniquely in this part of the world, sea trials are a crucial component of the event. With the Waitematā Harbour as the show’s neighbour, manufacturers and brokers are able to demonstrate vessels in their element to buyers, allowing them to bring performance, sea-kindliness and handling to the forefront.

For 22 years the Auckland Boat Show has also provided an important stage for regional and international parts and services providers. With a large on-land component of the show, the event has become a launching point each year for annual releases of innovative products and new developments.

With the local marine industry reporting record-breaking sales, and a thriving innovation sector within New Zealand, 2023’s show is set to be a record-breaker after its two year hiatus.
