Doyle Sails to present leading sailmaking technology

August 21, 2018 By aowb

The innovative team at Doyle Sails will be presenting some of its leading sailmaking technology at this year’s show.

DELTA
A modern alternative to the traditional panelled sail construction, Delta provides you with high-quality fibre and proven fibre layouts. Utilising the same adhesives and lamination process as our Stratis plant these sails offer similar benefits as our premiere product.

Specifically designed for the coastal cruising and club racing yachts under 15 metres (50ft) these sails are built for versatility, performance and longevity.
The standard fibres used in Delta laminates are black Technora and Carbon with the option for white taffeta or clear UV films.

CABLE-LESS CODE ZERO
The Cable-less Code Zero is a revolutionary sailmaking application that eliminates the use of torsion cables – giving more luff projection for deeper angles, more range and less weight.

An uninterrupted lens of unidirectional fibres designed in the luff of the sail takes the load from the tack all the way to the head. The secret behind the concept is that the load is taken along the sails natural load path instead of requiring many tons of cable tension to try and keep the luff tight. In the Cable-less Code Zero the luff is pushed to windward creating a far straighter luff for a fraction of the load and allows the luff to be eased and flown for deeper angles. When it comes time to furl the sail away, bands of unidirectional carbon running down the luff allow for a quick and easy ‘bottom up’ furl.

STRATIS SAILART
Having long realised the need to offer special images for customers and commercial sponsorship, Doyle has created a number of stunning sail graphics over the years but has taken it to the next level with Stratis Sail Art, the most-detailed sail graphics to date. Stratis Sail Art is the process of printing photo quality images onto sails as opposed to the traditional hand painting method. Not only does this technique produce sharp and detailed images, but it also provides a significant weight saving.
