Father’s Day – boating style

August 27, 2020 By aowb

We break down the best gifts for the marine-minded man in your life.

No father’s day present? No problem. We’ve collected our favourite boating goodies for the marine man in your life, the fishing father figure, or the king (fish) of dad jokes; all of which will be on display at this year’s Auckland Boat Show – 8-11 October. Dive in.

1. For the dad who isn’t sure what he wants.

Tickets to the show. There’s no other show in New Zealand where you can see boats right where they perform best – on the water. We’ve got a whole host of sea trials in everything from RIBS, to trailer boats, to multi-hulls and dad will love having a browse of the latest innovations and new products from our exhibitors in the pavilions. Tickets are $19.5 when you buy online and for bonus brownie points; complete our online survey which will be emailed to you after your online purchase and put dad in the draw to win one of a haul of great prizes.
Tickets are on sale now iticket.co.nz

2. For the green-living dad.
Just one of the companies bringing sustainable technology to the show, the New Zealand Electric Boat Co. will have an electric boat on display as well as electric boat propulsion systems and electric outboards. The New Zealand Electric Boat Co is the distributor for some of Europe’s leading brands in electric boats and we can’t get enough of the classic style of this Landamore model. Based in Kerikeri, where you’re able to experience the silent power of electric boating yourself, the team will be joining us this year at the show.

3. For the dad who’s not so hot on trailer-backing
GFAB’s alloy trailers are custom-configured to suit your boat, for an easy tow and great performance which will have dad backing down the ramp like a pro. The Tauranga-based team use their experience and progressive design to craft strong, lightweight alloy metal trailers, using high quality components. GFAB Trailers will ensure the boat has a custom fitting and trailers also come with a 12 year chassis warranty.

4. For the dad who’s sailing mad
Get him down to the show to see the Auld Mug in person. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will have the America’s Cup on display on its stand for all four days of the show, ready for your selfies and family photos. While you’re there, have a chat to the RNZYS team about membership, its learn to sail programmes and other show promos.
Grab your Cup photo at the RNZYS stand, Shed 10, Stand 27.

5. For the dad who’s ready to treat himself
Designed and built in New Zealand by Bill Upfold and Allan Tongs Boatbuilders respectively, AT43 has a generous cockpit for fishing and scuba diving, as well as a relaxed outdoor dining area. For the dad who loves kicking back, or more active on-water activities, this GRP moulded motor yacht presents plenty of options to customise to your liking. It’s offered in single, or twin-engine configurations, two or three cabins, galley up or down, and with great choices of custom interior finishes and levels of horsepower.
Find it at the show on the Viaduct Harbour Marina.
